Assalamualaikum

Parents are given priority second to Allah
Allah ordered that you worship only Him and you treat your parents with excellence.
Allah created everything and next to Him are your parents
Be humble towards them
“Oh Allah, have mercy on them as they took care of me when I was young.”
Honor them
Obey them
Be respectful
Make du’aa for them
Be grateful

Hadith: How to honor parents after they die

*Pray, ask forgiveness on their behalf
*Fulfill their promises
*Respect their friends
*Keep up their family ties

Hadith: Three sins
1.Shirk Al-Akbar
2.Disobedience to parents
3. Lying/giving false testimony

Seven levels
*Treat them with excellence
*Even when they are old do not repel them
*Cover your wing of humility and mercy for them
*Don’t say “oohf” to them
*A deep sigh
*A major sin that will take you to Hell even if you obey them
*A man was on his deathbed, but couldn’t say shahadah, mom needed to forgive him before he could say it

Quran has defined what dishonoring parents means
When shariah law is passed, they try to find the underlying reasons
Oohf hurts your parents feelings
It’s haraam to hurt their feelings

Allah teaches us through life experiences
You will disagree with your parents and you will make mistakes, but you will learn from it

You need to create a relationship with your parents – that they love you and trust you and have confidence in you
Even when they are doing something wrong, you still need to maintain respect
Eg: Prophet Ibrahim
The minimum amount of disrespect is oohf (hurting their feelings)
Rolling your eyes

At your mom’s feet is Heaven
The Muslim organizes his/her life for eternity
Honor parents- don’t give up eternity

Pioneers go against the grain
We need a pioneer by the actions of the Prophet
The first pioneers – Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Allah and Heaven has been prepared for them – refers to source of water (highest part of Jenna)

Assalaamu 'alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

This is a paramount topic that deserves to be really taught at a young age. The Pleasure of one's Lord rests in the Pleasure of the Parents.

Fi Amanillah
